Complement Panel 1: 12-Plex Deficiency Screening is a comprehensive test designed to identify deficiencies or dysfunctions in key complement proteins across the classical, alternative, and lectin pathways. Abnormalities are associated with a variety of immunodeficiency conditions, chronic inflammation, and autoimmune disorders. Deficiencies in complement components such as C1q, C2, C3, C4, and Factor H can lead to increased susceptibility to infections, particularly with encapsulated bacteria, as well as an elevated risk of autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), rheumatoid arthritis, and glomerulonephritis. Additionally, deficiencies in the mannose-binding lectin (MBL) pathway can contribute to recurrent infections and certain inflammatory conditions. This screening panel is valuable in diagnosing complement deficiencies and can help guide appropriate treatment and management strategies.
