LES ASSOCIATIONS CLINIQUES

Mitogen’s Anti-Cardiolipin (IgG + IgM) assay is an autoimmune diagnostic test that is useful in the diagnosis of conditions associated with unusual blood clotting and other problems.

Cardiolipins (and other related phospholipids) perform and essential role in the blood clotting process. Cardiolipin antibodies are produced by the immune system and target healthy cardiolipins, which help form the outermost layer of cells, platelets and other parts of the cell. Autoantibodies directed against cardiolipins often lead to recurrent blood clots in veins and/or arteries leading to deep vein thrombosis of the legs (DVT) or pulmonary embolism of the lungs (PE). These antibodies may also be essential in supporting a diagnosis of low platelet count (thrombocytopenia), recurrent later-term miscarriages, premature labor, pre-eclampsia, and other vital organ diseases.
