Complement Panel 2 is designed to measure key components such as C1q autoantibodies and Factor H autoantibodies involved in pathogenic mechanisms. The presence of C1q autoantibodies is strongly associated with autoimmune diseases like systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), where they are implicated in the development of lupus nephritis and other complement-mediated tissue damage. Similarly, Factor H autoantibodies are a hallmark of atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS), where they interfere with the regulation of the alternative complement pathway, contributing to the pathogenesis of thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA). This panel can serve as a guide to treatment strategies such as complement inhibition therapy or immunosuppressive treatments.
